Todd Lake: Four Seasons was inspired by the lake near Mt. Bachelor in the Central Oregon Cascades. Winter may evoke the crispness and clarity of the icy air at that altitude, and later, the rhythmic movement of snow shoes or cross-country skis. Autumn takes a nod to the Vivaldi piece by the same name. Spring evokes a yearning for longer, warmer, days. Summer, the shortest movement, was written to express the fun, lightness and relaxed quality of that short season in the mountains.
